Dear Library,
I love you. Even though you don't always have the books I want.

Your Devoted Friend,
Me

Dear Young Man Who Works at My Library,
Why, yes. I was afraid to approach the front desk where you were stationed and ask you if any of my holds were in the back. It's nothing against you personally, I have a slight apprehension of almost all young men. {Don't ask.}
And - I really can form a sentence that doesn't contain the word 'um'; I was nervous!
Sheepishly yours,
Me

Dear Onion I Chopped for Dinner the Other Night,
Well, I'm glad to know my tear ducts are still in perfect working order.
But, was being that pungent really necessary??
Tearfully yours,
Me

Dear Very-Pregnant Woman Who Goes to Our New-ish Church,
The first time I saw you, I greatly admired your extremely long, blonde hair.
Why, oh, why did you cut it short and dye it red?
With regret,
Me

Dear Little Boy Who Sat in Front of Me at the Theater,
I must say, I liked your hat an awful lot! That style is usually worn by old men, but it complemented your 5 year old self quite adorably. {I don't really know your age, of course. But you can't be much older than 5.}
Your Secret Admirer,
Me
I once I had a post like this, but I deleted it because it was just horrible lol, not like this at all. <3
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and so true! I can relate to almost every scenario. :) I'm one of those people who would go into the library every week and look for the same book(s) without finding it. I guess eventually I have to place a request, but I like looking for it on the shelves. Especially in bookstores when I have to climb up a ladder to reach it. :)
ReplyDeletei can relate very well on those scenarios: i feel nostalgic about those days i almost owned a corner especially on the special collections section and those lazy afternoons when i would slump on a desk by the southern side and enjoy reading short stories and poetry in the comfort of an open air...that warm feeling brought by a few rays of sun seeping in through the windows..<3
ReplyDelete--this makes me miss the library!! ooh i haven't been into one for over a year (or two) now :( i should find time one of these days!! thanks for sharing this post, Melee :)
not wendy: Awww, haha... thank you! Maybe you should try again sometime. I had an awful lot of fun writing this. :)
ReplyDeleteMarian: I usually end up having to place requests - but I do so love wandering the aisles and perusing the shelves too! Ooh, so far I've never had to climb a ladder to get to a book. They have ladders at our Barnes & Noble and I've always had to resist the urge to climb on them. =D
The Midnight Writer: You're welcome! That sounds like absolute perfection. Oh, goodness. I want to go to the library now too! :)
This is absolutely delightful Melee! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I always love your comments! You are such a treasure. <3
Thank you so much, Camille!! You are very welcome - though it is my pleasure to comment on your beautiful blog. And there is no else I'd rather discuss Kate Morton novels with on goodreads! :)
